The Subase Coalition (SC), housed at seCTer, is an Ad Hoc Committee established in 1993 and made up of volunteers from the Public and Private sectors. The goal of the SC is to preserve Subase New London in Groton from Base Realignment and Closure processes.
Since its foundation the SC was successful in its opposition to the 1993 BRAC proposal to close the Lower Subase, and the 2005 BRAC proposal of full closure of Subase New London.>
The SC meets regularly to monitor potential future BRAC processes and to advocate for Federal, State and Regional activities and investments to strengthen and enhance Subase New London, as both a critical element in National Defense, and in the economic vitality of southeastern Connecticut and New England. The foundation of these on-going efforts were outlined at the 2006 "Lessons Learned Conference," which focused on the 2005 BRAC decision.
