$25,000 Grant Opportunity

Awarding grants for small business growth projects in Southeastern Connecticut.

The $25,000 grant is available to businesses that meet the eligibility criteria outlined below. Please review carefully before applying. The application is found via the button at the bottom of this page.

Eligible Uses:

  • Hire a professional service such as training/professional development, compliance assistance, marketing, etc.
  • Purchase equipment / machinery.
  • Inventory purchases are NOT allowed under this grant opportunity.
  • Documentation is required for items or services being purchased from grant funds over $1,000.

Eligibility Criteria and Necessary Documents:

  • Business revenue must be between $1.5 million and $5 million annually.
  • In business for a minimum of four years.
  • Must have minimum of 5 full-time employees.
  • Have a separate and established business checking account.
  • Good standing with the CT Department of Revenue Services.
  • Provide proof of existence
    • Secretary of the State registration.
    • Picture of license.
    • Permits and/or licensure necessary to operating your business.
  • Owner(s) at least 18-years-old.
  • Applicant must submit the following;
    • Past two years and year to date profit and loss.
    • Past two years and year to date balance sheet.
    • Most recent tax return.
    • Completed W-9.
    • Two years of projections.
  • Applicant must explain in detail the proposed project and provide a detailed project budget.

Evaluation Checklist

Applications will be scored on the following items on a scale of 0-5 by the Review Committee.

  • Will the project have a meaningful impact on the business and help the business grow and scale?
  • Does the application provide a clear explanation of the project to be accomplished with the grant?
  • Does the application provide a clear and specific budget for the project?
  • Does the application provide a clear explanation of how the grant will grow the business?
  • Is the timeline for the project well defined?
  • Will there be job creation and/or employee upskilling?
  • Does the requested amount and project make sense and fit within the spirit of the program?
  • Is there product and / or process innovation or R&D associated with the project?
  • Does the business show continued revenue growth?

All awards and disbursements are at the discretion of seCTer. This is a highly competitive program and not all applications may be awarded. $25,000 is the maximum amount a business may apply for under this grant opportunity. A business may apply for less than $25,000. seCTer may require additional documentation to further examine your application and funding request. seCTer may revise the program eligibility requirements as needed.
